Meditation in Reading and the Thames Valley

Courses

We hold regular meditation courses, from a half-day introduction to full day courses. They are suitable for everyone, however much experience you have of meditation.

With teachings on practical ways to maintain positive states of mind and guided meditations, these events provide a welcome break from our busy lives, and leave us feeling refreshed and energized. Come and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of time between meditation sessions.

Courses consist of brief prayers and teachings followed by guided meditations. Refreshments are served between sessions and a delicious two-course vegetarian lunch is included in the cost.

Nyungnay Purifying Ritual Practice

Weekend Retreat, 21 – 23 April

Our compassionate heart, which brings great joy and meaning to our lives, can be awakened through this special purification practice of Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara called ‘Drop of Essential Nectar’. This practice is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving blessings and improving our experience of love, compassion, and Bodhichitta.

Through the course of the retreat we will take the Mahayana Precepts, fast, make prostrations and engage in praises and requests to the Buddha of Compassion.

Each morning will begin with the taking of the eight Mahayana Precepts, which is an essential preparation for attending any of the sessions on that day.
